About us
Long Covid UK is a national charity set up by and for people living with or affected by Long Covid. Our mission is to reduce the impact of Long Covid and improve the lives of all those affected by driving long-term, systemic change.
We do this by offering community support and working to ensure people with lived experience of Long Covid are meaningfully involved in the processes and decisions which affect their lives, from research to public policy.
Our History
Long Covid UK began in 2020 as a Facebook community, the "Long Covid Support Group", created by people who were not recovering as expected after acute COVID-19. It quickly grew into a space where people could share experiences, access information, and support one another.
As the community expanded, so did the need for advocacy, research, and improved care. Between 2020 and 2022, members of our support group continued to advocate tirelessly, influencing policymakers, achieving media attention and building relationships with researchers. In May 2022, the charity Long Covid Support was established to take this work forward. What was expected to be a temporary need has instead continued to grow, and in September 2026 the organisation became Long Covid UK, reflecting its role as a national charity representing people living with Long Covid across the UK.
