The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Long Covid brings together MPs and Peers from across the political spectrum to address Long Covid through national policy.
Long Covid UK serves as the group's secretariat. We manage its administration and ensure the lived experience of our community sits at the heart of the policy conversation.

Meeting 6
24th June 2026
This meeting focused on the impact of Long Covid on Children and Young People, with a presentation from the charity Long Covid Kids who also provided a Briefing Note to the APPG.
Speakers included Sammie McFarland (Founder and CEO of Long Covid Kids) and Dr. Terry Segal (Consultant Paediatrician). Kitty McFarland (Youth Advocate, Long Covid Kids) provided powerful lived-experience testimony.
A range of topics were discussed, including:
the need for widely available, effective Long Covid healthcare services for children and young people;
· challenges when transitioning from paediatric to adult healthcare;
· how educational institutions can support children and young people with Long Covid;
· employment issues faced by young people with Long Covid;
· the importance of peer support;
· bullying and stigma of Long Covid, and the need for Long Covid education and age-targeted awareness campaigns.

24th March 2026 (AGM)
Key topics discussed:
An overview of current Long Covid issues and priorities were discussed
Reviewed Long Covid prevalence, funding pressures, and clinic closures. A preliminary report was presented
Discussed APPG meetings and UK Covid-19 Inquiry updates
Planned parliamentary engagement and Government advocacy work
Highlighted Long Covid impacts on children and young people

3rd December 2025
Key topics discussed:
Launch of the Overlapping Illness Alliance (OIA) at Parliament, with actions agreed to circulate OIA briefing materials more widely
Long Covid prevalence data by ICB/Health Board, drawn from the 2025 NHS GP Patient Survey, and ongoing concerns about reduced access to Long Covid healthcare services
Long Covid Support's involvement in the UK Covid-19 Inquiry, including letters submitted to the Cabinet Office and DHSC
Overview of the APPG's work during the year and potential priorities for 2026

15th July 2025
Key topics discussed:
Guest speaker Prof. Chris Brightling (University of Leicester) on next steps for Long Covid drug targeting and therapeutics research, including challenges faced by researchers
The recent NIHR EME funding call, welcomed as a positive step
The Timms Review of the PIP Assessment. Chair Jo Platt reported that Sir Stephen Timms has agreed to a follow-up meeting
Covid-19 prevention, including a briefing note on vaccine eligibility and access, and discussion of public health messaging and clean air

14th May 2025
This was a joint meeting with the APPG on Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME).

Sir Stephen Timms MP (Minister of State, DWP) attended to discuss the Government's proposed welfare reforms, with members raising concerns
