Northern Ireland: online peer support group

On Monday 7 September 2026, we held the first online meeting of our Northern Ireland Peer Support Group. The session was facilitated by volunteer Rebecca Logan, with support from Fleur Roberts, our In Person Peer Support Lead, and Jo Dainow, one of our trustees.

We were delighted to welcome seven attendees from across Northern Ireland. To begin, everyone introduced themselves and shared where they lived, the symptoms that most affect them, and some of the things that bring them joy. This helped create a warm and supportive environment where people could connect through both shared challenges and positive experiences.

The group then discussed their experiences with clinics and GPs, highlighting both common concerns and individual experiences of accessing healthcare. Attendees also shared the actions they have taken to raise awareness with Northern Ireland MPs and Ministers, including writing letters and advocating for change. The discussion explored how we might work together to take further collective action in the future.

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity for connection, mutual support and the sharing of experiences. We look forward to building on these conversations in future meetings and continuing to shape this group to meet the needs of the Long Covid community in Northern Ireland. Huge thanks to Rebecca Logan for bringing us all together.

If you live in Northern Ireland and would like to join our next meeting, details will be shared in our Facebook Support Group. You can join the group here.
