Young carers
If you are under the age of 18 and are providing care for someone with Long COVID, then you are a young carer.
Caring can be isolating and affect your education and social life, so it is important to have the right support. It may help to tell your school that you are a young carer, so they can help you to keep up with your schoolwork while juggling caring.
• Specialist support: The Carers Trust and Barnardo’s provide specialist services for young carers across the UK
• Helpline: Sidekick is a confidential helpline for young carers.
• Meeting other young carers: Young Carers Festival is an opportunity to meet other young carers and have a great time.
• Your rights: You or your parents have the right to request a young carer’s assessment from your local council. Find your local council on GOV.UK. There is further information about your rights by The Children’s Society.
